Omar tells of one man’s struggle to find a new home, but this could be the story of any one of the thousands who journey across the Mediterranean Sea in search of a better future for themselves and for their families.
They travel through deserts and the seas, victims of abuse, violence, robbery, torture, and illegal detention.
Daniele’s OSTs musically accompany the film throughout with an emotionality that is hard to put in words.
The haunting ambient beginning of ‘The Village’ creates a perfect canvas for the notes of a dreamy harp and the lush strings that follow. ‘Better Future’ is the second track within the compilation that is musically both melancholic and hopeful and paints a remarkable human story. ‘The Sea’ as a piece of music brings all the rises and falls, calm and violent uncertainty of a sea.
